Founded in 2023, The 1865 Society of Pender County commemorates the historical significance of Juneteenth through events and initiatives that celebrate African American heritage and promote unity within the community.
Juneteenth holds profound historical significance—it marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. By commemorating Juneteenth, we honor the resilience, courage, and contributions of our ancestors while building bridges to a more united future.
